Do You Have Proven Faith? – Part 2

By Greg Sanders

When life is hard, we do not want to try new things. When life is hard, we want to lean on things we know will work. Give me the medicine I know works. Give me the comfort food I know satisfies me. When life gets hard, we naturally default to things we have proven. So let me ask you: “Do you have a proven faith?” Faith that has been proven before so you know you can lean on it today? If not, this series is about how to develop proven faith. Welcome to part 2 of “Do you Have Proven Faith?”

Today’s Lesson: Submit to the direction of God.

Genesis 22:3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about

For faith to be proven, it must be submitted to the will of God. Abe submitted to the direction of God.
Do you think for one second that Abe wanted to submit to this request? I can read this scripture and come up with several really good arguments on why Abe should ignore this command.

Submission means—To come under the mission. So to submit to God’s will means to come under God’s mission. Abe was all about the mission of God. His life had been about it for years. But submitting to God is not a one-time thing. It’s a daily thing. Every choice we make requires us to decide this: Will I come under the mission of God with this choice or not?

“Whenever I act in a manner inconsistent with the character of God or His will for my life, at that moment I too become an anonymous atheist. –George O Wood.

When we choose to come under His mission, or submit to Him, it gives God the opportunity to develop a proven faith in us. Many people never prove their faith because they never submit their will to the will of the Father. By the way, you never really submit until you disagree with the orders given to you. The moment you disagree is your first opportunity to submit. It’s your first invitation to experience proven faith.

We develop a proven faith when we apply His Word to our lives and we submit our ways and our understanding to His direction.

Job 22:21 Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.

Submitting to God brings his blessing and introduces us to His provision in new and expanding ways.

Testing brings out God’s best in you. Submit to Him.

Today’s Challenge: When God’s Word gives you a bit of instruction you would rather ignore, choose to submit. When you choose to submit to His Word, you are creating an environment in which your faith can be proven.

Blessings,

Greg
