Connect to The Kingdom Culture – Part 1

Connect to the Kingdom Culture

By Greg Sanders

This past week we began a new series in our church called “Kingdom Culture.” Jesus not only commanded us to pray that His kingdom come, but He also went into a lot of details describing His coming kingdom so we would know what to expect and how to operate in His kingdom here on earth. I would like to invite you to join us on this journey as we pray for the culture of heaven to come to our lives.

Today’s Lesson: Christ Is King

Psalm 4:7 “For God is King of all the earth.”

God is not going to be King. It’s not that He was the King…He IS the King. What is Jesus king of? He is the King of Heaven. We all know this truth, but that is not all He is King of. In Genesis, He expanded His kingdom from heaven to earth. He is the King of all the earth. He owns the Ocean. He owns the nations. He owns my house and He owns your house. All that we have is His. Why? Because He is the King.

1 Corinthians 10:26 For “the earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it.”

Everything means everything.

Jesus owns it. He desires to bring the culture of heaven to the place of earth because it is His. If I were to come to your house, I may have this thought, “If I owned this place, I would arrange the furniture much differently and would paint this room a different color.” But if I am a good guest, I will keep that thought to myself. However, if it is my own house we are speaking of, I am not going to go home every night and say, “I think it should be this way.” No…I am going to start changing and rearranging it to be the way I want it to be. Why? Because I own it. Because we own something we want it to reflect our desire.

Since the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, He wants to bring the culture of His house to this planet because it is His. Jesus even taught His disciples to pray such a prayer. In Matthew 6:9, Jesus said “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus focused a lot of His teaching on encouraging His people to connect to the life they live on earth to the life He was bringing from heaven. Jesus wanted the Kingdom Culture of heaven to expand on earth. He desired it then and He desires it today.

This week we will talk about some practical ways we can connect to the Kingdom Culture.

Today’s Challenge: Start with prayer. Pray for His Kingdom to come and His will be done in your life. Since we belong to Him, invite Him to rearrange your life in the way that He desires.
