There is a Way Out
By Greg Sanders
Psalm 34:19 says, A man who does what is right and good may have many troubles. But the Lord takes him out of them all.” I like to think that right living will make me immune to trouble. But that is just not true. Living right saves me a lot of trouble, but it does not make me immune to it. However, when trouble comes you can be sure that the Lord can see you through all of it.
2 Peter 2:9 reminds us of this fact: God can help. Peter said “But the Lord knows how to help men who are right with God when they are tempted.” I have found myself in situations where I had no idea how I would ever be able survive. However, I am glad to know that God can get me out. Now it does not always feel that way. I often forget that I serve a God who can part the waters or even allow people to walk on the water if that is what is necessary for deliverance. I forget that He can make a way where it seems impossible, improbable, and insane to even think about surviving. In the middle of trouble it is easy to become so overwhelmed with the problems that you forget that God is the solution. You can get so focused on the multitude of things that are impossible that you forget that He can do the impossible. I am reminded of the Children of Israel when they were trapped at the sea. They had mountains on both sides, a pursuing army behind them, and the sea in front of them. By all accounts they were in trouble. But God knew how to help them. He parted the sea and they walked through on dry ground. What should have swallowed them up became the avenue of escape. What you think should destroy you may end up being God’s mode of deliverance.
Today’s Challenge: No matter how impossible your trouble seems remember that God knows how to help His people.
Blessings,
Greg
