Believe That God Can Keep His Word No Matter What It Looks Like
By Greg Sanders
Matthew 1:22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
Have you ever read the Christmas story and thought, “Why is God working this way?” I read it and often have some short cuts to offer God. But God is meticulous in keeping His word. Things in life we don’t understand are often His way of working behind the scenes to fulfill His Word.
God goes to extreme lengths to keep His word. If God promised to do it, He will do it. Now He may work through a different channel than you expected. He may do it in a time that is different than you had hoped for. But God keeps His word. The “when” and “how” is what caused many people to miss the gift of Jesus that first Christmas. They did not receive the promise of the Messiah because Jesus did not show up in a way that met their preconceived idea.
Though you can be sure that God will keep His word, remember that you are not the authority on how or when He will keep His word. According to Isaiah 55: 8, “His ways are above our ways” so there is no way you can predict how He will bring about His plan. Christmas reminds us that no matter how things seem, God keeps His word.
Today’s Challenge: Stop trying to figure out the “when” and the “how” regarding God keeping His word and focus on the hope you have knowing He will keep His word.
Blessings,
Greg
