The Road To Greater Things Will Get Rough
By Greg Sanders

Genesis 12:10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.

The road to greater things is not always paved. Sometimes the road gets rough. If you want greater things in your life get ready for a few bumps in the road. Abraham followed and did not immediately discover greater things. He was pretty sure he was about to be killed. When you start believing for God to produce greater things in your life, you can be sure that the devil will be there to attempt to get you off track. He hopes that the rough road will cause you to change directions. Abraham started following God’s instruction and he experienced a famine. However, the famine did not deter the plan God had for Abraham. Don’t let the bumps in the road cause you to abandon the direction God has for your life.

Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:16 that the bumps in the road can actually serve the purpose of God. Paul said, “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,

Your bumps are producing something greater in your life. Abraham discovered greater things on his journey to the Promised Land. He increased on his journey. Greater things occur as you journey, not just upon your arrival. Genesis 13:1 says, “So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him. 2 Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.” Notice that phrase “had become.” Abraham became greater as he journeyed not just as He arrived. God always gives us a “greater” destination to look forward to, but it is along the road to that destination that much of the increase comes. Abraham arrived at the Promise Land already blessed. The road was rough but it produced God’s blessing in His life.

Today’s Challenge: Realize that the road to greater things is not always easy. However, as you follow the direction of the Lord, even your struggles will produce greater things. Don’t let the rough ride throw you off course. Stay focused on pursuing all of the greater things God has for your life.

Blessings,

Greg
