Lesson 4: Trust God With The Results

Acts 8:36 “As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, ‘Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?’ 38 He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.”

You can trust that when you are lead by the Spirit, He will take care of leading you to the right places and the right people. Keep in Step with the Holy Spirit and then trust Him with the results. Sometimes you obey God and the response may be initially negative. In the case of our text, the eunuch responded positively. The bottom line is that you can’t let the outward response affect your inward resolve to trust God.

How can I trust God and keep in step with the Holy Spirit?

  • Remember that you are only responsible for your own obedience.

Philip could not control how the eunuch responded. He could only control his own commitment to follow the instruction of the Holy Spirit step by step. When you know that you have obeyed the leading of the Spirit, you have to find comfort in knowing that you have done your part. One sure fire way to get out of step with the Spirit is to stop following Him because you’re grieving over a past situation that worked out in a way you did not plan.

  • Remember that there are things going on behind the scenes and in people’s heart that you cannot see.

We all know that man looks on the outward appearance of things, but that God looks at the heart. Remember when the Holy Spirit challenges you to minister to a person or obey in a way that does not make sense; remember God sees that person or situation differently then you. We look on the surface of things; God looks at the heart of the matter. Don’t let what things look like keep you from doing what God says must be done.

  • Remember that when you keep in step with the Holy Spirit, you never work alone.

In 1 Corinthians 3:6, Paul says, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” When you are keeping in step with the Spirit, remember that you never walk alone, you never serve alone, and you never go through a season alone. God is there also making the things we do productive for the kingdom.

Today’s Challenge: Keep in step with the Holy Spirit by trusting God with the results. Remember it’s not always what it looks like. God works in ways that we can see and ways that we cannot see. Focus on doing what He speaks to your heart and trust Him with the results.
