Who Sets Your Priorities?
By Greg Sanders
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
God does not bless people who live by priorities. God blesses those who live with their priorities in alignment with His word. The truth is that if you do not set your priorities, someone else will choose them for you. If you do not have a biblical conviction about the priorities of your life, then your boss will tell you what is important, your kids will tell you what is important, and even strangers on the street may dictate your day. This happens because you are walking through life wandering rather than living on mission.
Do you ever feel like you are living at the mercy of the latest emergency? Let me tell you a secret: The emergencies are not going to stop coming. I know that is not good news but here is the deal: you must set and practice your priorities despite the emergencies. If you sense that your spiritual growth has taken a backseat to the immediate chaos in your life then its time to evaluate your priorities. Don’t wait for the storm to pass but rather be strategic in seeking God, His desires, and His priorities in the middle of your crises. If you don’t set your priorities with God at the top, someone else will take His place.
Today’s Challenge: Spend time asking the Holy Spirit to reveal to you His priorities for your life. Make the necessary changes to your schedule, your spending, and your serving to make your living match His priorities. When God is first you can have confidence that He will tend to the details of your life. |
