Do You Suffer From Opinion Overload?
By Greg Sanders

One of the most flattering questions someone can ask you is “what do you think.” That question flatters people because the question itself indicates that you have knowledge, you have expertise and that your voice is valuable. However, that question does not have to be asked very often now days. Many people will give you their opinion whether you ask for it or now. If you are a member of any social media forum you are inundated with people’s opinions all the time.

There is a difference between knowledge and opinion and one cannot substitute for the others. In Hosea 4:6 the prophet says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” God does not mean that we suffer because we don’t have general knowledge regarding life, but specifically we do not have Biblical knowledge that leads to knowing Him. When there is a lack of Biblical knowledge influencing your life, then you are susceptible to live at the mercy of people’s constantly changing opinion.

Today’s Challenge: Invest time in God’s word. Spend time digesting what He has said to you through scripture. As you become more knowledgeable of His word you also become more discerning of His voice. Truthfully the last thing any one needs is one more opinion, what we really need is the truth. Truth comes only from a real knowledge of God and His word.
