One Thing You Can Count On
By Greg Sanders

Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.

Life is filled with things that do not last. Some of the businesses, products, and ideas that you thought would be around forever are now just a memory. When you make a major purchase today you do so with the understanding that the value of this product will most likely go down very quickly. Jesus said that there is one thing in this life that will last. There is one thing that does not lose its value and does not lose its power. There is one thing that you can count on no matter how much time goes by or what condition may come to your life. The one thing you can count on is God’s word.

People and nations have tried to extinguish God’s word for centuries. They have burned it, banned it, and buried it, but they have not extinguished the power of God’s word to continue to transform lives. As a matter of fact, His word is the only thing that has the power to set people free. God’s word has been called irrelevant, old fashioned, and outdated but it still has the power to transform your life today.

The greatest act of disregard done against God’s word has not been among the opponents of Christianity. The greatest act of injustice done to God’s word is done when His believers ignore, compromise, or deliberately shun His word. When you marginalize His word you have completely misaligned your life from His purpose and blessing. Don’t bypass what is intended to bring the blessing of God to your life. Though God’s word may seem out of date to our culture, it is never out of power to transform your life.

Today’s Challenge: Build you life on something that will last. Choose today to honor the word of God by embracing all of it. When everything else wears out, it will still be the foundation that never fails.
