It’s Not Over Until You Quit

By Greg Sanders

Mark 5:6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”

Have you ever prayed for something and it did not happen? You may be in better company than you think. Jesus prayed that this man would be set free more than one time. The first time that Jesus told this demon to leave the body of this tortured man, the demon did not leave. Think about that for a moment. Jesus’ prayer was not answered the first time He prayed, but Jesus refused to take “no” for an answer. It was not over until Jesus quit praying and Jesus did not quit praying until this man was free.

Why is it that when come when it comes to Spiritual matters we only try once? We will try other things hundreds of times until it works. If you take ibuprofen for your headache and it still hurts several hours later, what do you do? You take some more. But when it comes to Jesus we often say, “Well, I prayed about it” and we give up. It is not over until you give up.

Proverbs 24:16 The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.

Remember, if your prayers don’t get answered the first time, you are in good company. If you pray again you are in even better company.

Today’s Challenge: Refuse to quit believing for the promises of God in your life. Remember your situation is never out of God’s power to transform. It’s not over until you quit.
