Pressure Zones are Discovery Zones
By Greg Sanders

Pressure improves learning. You become a better student when you are in a testing season. You search for information with more intensity and listen to instruction much more carefully. If you are going through a hard season of life, recognize that this hard season should also be a discovery season. This is a season that you have the opportunity discover the faithfulness of God in an increasing manner.

1 Samuel 22:3 And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother stay with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

David had no idea how his life would turn out. All he knew for sure was what God had promised. He knew the promise of God was a long way off from the current reality of His life. But in these few words he spoke to the king of Moab, we find that David was living in a discovery zone. He knew that this time of pressure would reveal the next phase of God’s plan for His life.

Sometimes you don’t know every step of God’s plan right up front. Often you discover His plan by taking steps of obedience. Those steps don’t always make sense, they don’t always come easily, and they may seem to be going in the opposite direction of how you would go. Remember, when the pressure is on, there are truths, promises, and experiences that God wants you to discover. David did not know what God would do but he seemed confident that God would act on his behalf. He asked the king to care for his parents “till” he knew what God would do. You may not be able to predict what God will do for you but you can always have confidence that He will guide you on your path.

Today’s Challenge: Meet your current season with confidence that there is an aspect of God’s heart you have yet to discover. Remember that the pressure zone is also the discovery zone.
