Reconciliation Is Your Job
By Greg Sanders
Part 2: Personal reconciliation to God precedes and demands reconciliation to people.
2 Corinthians 5:18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. Paul states that the ministry of reconciliation is the job of the church. There is no other organization or body on planet earth that can bring healing like the church of Jesus Christ because it is His church that has been anointed and appointed for this great task. The fact that you have been reconciled to God places a demand on your life to now be used in the process of reconciling others. In this process, all human lines of division are swallowed up with compassion.
If you are a follower of Jesus, reconciliation must be a non-negotiable value of your life. The Bible says it like this in 1 John 4:20: If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? Again, in 1 John 2:9, the Word says: “If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness.” Overcoming personal prejudices is a work that God desires to do in each of our lives. You cannot force it but you must facilitate it. You must desire it and respond to the Word of God in your life.
Today’s Challenge: Don’t let the dividing lines in our society keep you from reaching out and showing the love of Jesus to those who He puts in your path. Pray that all division would go and a spirit of unity would flow into our nation once again. |
