Your Lifestyle Proves Your Value of God’s Presence
By Greg Sanders
1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.
Your daily activity, choices, and lifestyle prove how much you value the presence of God. Paul reminds us that every believer is a carrier of God’s Spirit. As a believer, the Holy Spirit of God has taken up residence in your life. From the moment you received salvation, everything you do is either loosing God’s presence in a greater way in your life or limiting His presence in your life. Your daily activity either grieves God’s Spirit or makes room for His Spirit to grow and flow in your life. Paul teaches that the Spirit of God in you should alter the life you live daily so that God is honored.
To welcome His presence in a greater capacity you must change the question from asking what is legally wrong and start asking a better question: “What pleases God?” Treasuring the presence of God is not about sticking up for what you have the right to do but rather about making choices that welcome Him in your life. Your ability to keep the commands will be directly tied to your awareness of the Spirit that resides inside of you. A greater awareness of His presences translates into greater power against temptation. Remember that you are living your life for God as a solo act. His presence is dwelling in you.
Today’s Challenge: Choose today to honor the presence of God with your body. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any activity that grieves the heart of God. When you submit your will to the will of God, you are welcoming His presence into your life in a greater way. |
