Somebody’s Watching Me
By Greg Sanders
Are you a people watcher? At times when we are shopping, I will just sit down in the mall to rest my legs and I instinctively start watching people walk by. People are interesting subjects to study. However, I usually leave said activity with a renewed realization that people I don’t even know are watching me. It is true. There is always someone watching your life. Paul told Timothy this principle in 1 Timothy 4:16. Paul said, “Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.”
There is a reoccurring theme in scripture that teaches your life as a believer is not just about you. You must realize that your lifestyle is actively encouraging or discouraging other believers who are watching you. Paul said keep a close eye on how you live, not just for your sake, but also for the sake of others as well.
Remember when you struggle and when you are tempted that your resolve testifies to others. As you remain faithful, you give God room to provide for your life, but you are also proving to others that God is trustworthy. When you realize that your life is being watched it brings an elevated weight to every decision that you make. Don’t shy away from this reality. Use this reality to bring encouragement into people’s lives. You will never know the true influence your life has in what you consider to be your everyday life.
Today’s Challenge: Realize that God is watching your life. Live life in a way to please Him. Also remember that others are watching your life. As you seek to please Him first, you will also be encouraging others in their walk with God. |
