Your Life Has One Message
By Greg Sanders
Titus 2:7 And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.
You are most likely engaged in hundreds of activities every week. Everything from school, work, social activities, exercise, and hobbies fills your calendar. Paul makes a statement that I believe gets widely overlooked. He said that all that you do works together to create the message of your life. In other words, everything you do is producing the one message of your life. What you do off the stage is just as important as what you do in the spotlight. Everything you do in your life, the words you say, the places you go, and the company you keep is sending a message. The question: What message are you sending?
You cannot compartmentalize your witness for Christ. All of your daily activity is meshing together to build the platform from with you function for Christ. Many will argue that it is unfair to merge the messenger and the message. This is the natural reaction of most people. We often embrace or withdraw from products, sports teams, and political parties based largely based on one messenger. Paul understands this truth and therefore pleads for integrity to be practice in the lives of believers. Integrity by definition means, “being whole or undivided.” Don’t allow your message to be divided by the example you present.
Today’s Challenge: Realize that all of your life is witnessing to those around you. You don’t get to choose which part people will follow and mimic. Pray today that God will allow your example to encourage others in their walk of faith. This practice does not demand perfection, only honesty before God and men. |
