Don’t Misread The Facts
By Greg Sanders
Judges 6:12….The angel of God appeared to him and said, “God is with you, O mighty warrior!”13 Gideon replied, “With me, my master? If God is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all the miracle-wonders our parents and grandparents told us about, telling us, ‘Didn’t God deliver us from Egypt?’ The fact is, God has nothing to do with us—he has turned us over to Midian.”
I have noticed that many times in the Bible, the reason God makes the statement, “God is with you” is because everything in your life is shouting that God is absent. If the circumstances of your life are screaming that God is absent, remember that God is present. If God seems absent, then you are misreading the facts of your life. Don’t allow the voice of your surroundings rob you of the real fact that God is present in the middle of the direst situations. Hebrews 13:5 reminds us that God said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” The fact that He is with you has nothing to do with your feelings but it has everything to do with the truth that He never leaves His people.
Gideon had misread the facts of his life. He was convinced that all the chaos going on around him was evidence that God was absent from his life. When you filter the facts of your life through the lens of your own understanding you will most often misinterpret what God is doing and what God is saying. God may have positioned you in places where He seems absent so that you could display His presence. Gideon had misread the facts of his life. God was not absent; God was present and wanting to prove His presence through Gideon’s life. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT YOU ARE MISREADING THE FACTS OF YOUR LIFE?
Today’s Challenge: If you will respond to Him in the middle of your heartache, your loss, and your pain, God will prove His presence to you. He will show up and you will discover that God is faithful and present in every place of life. |
