The One Thing that Matters

By Greg Sanders

Luke 10: 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

We live in a world full of options, information, and improvement. If you make a purchase today, chances are your new technology will be outdated in a short while. Everything changes. This is exciting, but it is also worrisome. You can spend a lot of time, energy, and money trying to stay ahead and keep up with the pace of the business world and even social expectations. You can become so fixated on staying current with the times that you fall out of step with God.

Jesus made a singular statement that gives us focus for the changing times in which we live. He said “only one thing is needed.” Here is the tricky part, not even Amazon, with the 480 million items they have for sale, (real number) does not have what you need. The one thing that Jesus tells us that we need is Him. Nothing else you buy, earn, or receive in this world will substitute for the peace, joy, and real life that comes from Him.

Today’s Challenge: Realize that nothing in this world will satisfy you until you are satisfied in Jesus. In the midst of seeking all the things that you desire, realize that the real thing you need is Him.

P.S. Are you in the Camden area? Join us tonight at CFA as we dive into a message entitled “the one that that Matters.” Service starts at 6:30 p.m.
