If It Matters To You, Then It Is Meaningful To God
By Greg Sanders
2 Samuel 24: 24 But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the Lord my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver[f] for the threshing floor and the oxen.
Significant giving and generous living is not determined by how much you give but rather by how much it matters to you. Jesus pointed a lady out to His disciples one day who had only given two small coins in the collection. Jesus explained to the disciples that what she gave was much more valuable that what many others gave because what she gave mattered greatly to her.
As you go through your day today, consider this question: Does what I give to God really matter to me? I have assured many people through the years that everything they do for God matters to Him. I am certain that what you do for Him does matter. However, maybe the better question is “Does it matter to me?” David had an opportunity to give a sacrifice to the Lord with donated material but he sensed that a sacrifice without cost was not really a sacrifice. Hebrews 13:15 says, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”
Today’s Challenge: Make sure what you give to God matters to you. If it matters to you, it will certainly be meaningful to God. |
