Rely On The Lord
By Greg Sanders
2 Chronicles 13:13 But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.14 And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the Lord, and the priests sounded with the trumpets. 15 Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. 16 And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand. 17 And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men. 18 Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the Lord God of their fathers.
Outgunned, outnumbered, and no way out. This was the condition of the people of Judah. Judah was surrounded by an army stronger than they were and defeat seemed certain. Humanly speaking this battle was over. However, God can work miracles for people who rely on Him. This battle turned in Judah’s favor because instead of giving up, they called out and relied on God. The success of a believer is not dependant on skill, ability, or human resources alone. God can cause His children to triumph over certain tragedy when they rely on Him.
If you are in a battle today, I encourage you to not be overwhelmed by all the opposition that you see before you and around you. Instead, I challenge you to look up to your God who is certainly with you. His help is only one prayer away. He can turn your certain defeat into a victory.
Today’s Challenge: Remember that no matter how great the opposition, your God is greater. He is listening and ready to intervene on behalf of His people who will rely on Him.
