You Can Experience Lasting Peace
By Greg Sanders
2 Chronicles 32:7 “Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria or his mighty army, for there is a power far greater on our side! 8 He may have a great army, but they are merely men. We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!” Hezekiah’s words greatly encouraged the people.
It has been said that peace is not the absence of conflict, but rather the recognition of God’s presence no matter what. The only way you can have constant peace in a world of changing circumstances is for your peace to be derived from something or someone that never changes. As a believer in Jesus, you know one of the attributes of your Savior is that He never changes and He never fails.
You will face trials, tribulations, and tests that seem to be greater than you. These conflicts can make you feel unprepared and unable to stand against the attack. In truth, we are often in over our head. However, Hezekiah reminded his people and he is reminding you today that the success of your struggle does not depend on your power. Your success is based on God’s power.
The revelation of this reality regarding the presence God’s power brought great relief and encouragement to the people of God in Hezekiah’s day and I pray it will bring encouragement to you. You do not have to live in fear of any surrounding problem that is threatening to destroy your life. It matters not if that threat comes from a diagnosis of sickness, fret of economic downturn, or relational circumstances. God is greater than all of those things that you face.
Remember that you never fight your battles alone. Scripture reminds you, God is fighting your battles for you. He may not always fight them the way you desire or on the timeline you would have chosen but you can be confident that God has your battle handled.
Today’s Challenge: Realize that God has supernatural power to do exceedingly beyond what you could ever imagine. Peace will come to your life as you choose to lean into His power and His care. |
