Bring Back The Sinner
By Greg Sanders
James 5:19 My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, 20 you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.
There are forces at work that attempt to make the most sincerest of believers wonder from the truth. The enemy is a master of deception and an expert in instilling fear that can undermine your faith in Jesus. On the surface you may respond that nothing would ever be able to shake a true believers walk in the truth. However, you have witnessed in others and perhaps even in your own life how easy it is to do what you never thought you would do. In those time it is refreshing to know that God is in favor of bringing back the sinner, especially when the sinner is you.
God is in the business of bringing back those who stray. In Matthew 18:12 Jesus explained His desire to bring back the sinner by giving a parable. He said, “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?” Jesus is all about bringing unto Himself those that have been separated by sin. The whole earthly ministry of Jesus coming to earth was to “seek and save those that were lost.” Since Jesus does not change, you can rest assure He still desires today to bring back every sinner. Embrace that truth because it not only applies to those around you, it applies to you too. You are not the one person Jesus has decided to write off.
God wants to use you to bring sinners back to Him. When Jesus called the first disciples He said to them, “follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.” He was straightforward up front that to follow Him meant to participate in the search for others. You cannot embrace the message of Jesus and miss the mandate. Jesus is about bringing back the sinner and He wants to use you today in that mission.
Today’s Challenge: Pray and ask Jesus to open your eyes to those around you that need to be brought back home. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit today and participate in bringing back those who have strayed. |
