You have an enemy to your life. It is not a matter of if he will come against you, it is only a matter of when and in what form. When the enemy attacks, it is too late to try to formulate a response. You have to know what you are going to do in advance.
1 Peter 5:9-11 gives us some great instructions for when the enemy attacks. It reads Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
When the enemy comes to attack your life put these simple but effective practices to work for you.
Recognize it is the enemy who is working against you.The voice telling you to quit, move over or stop trying is the voice of the enemy. Resist him! God never directs us to try less for Him.
Galatians 5:8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.
Resist self pity – You’re not the only one to face what you are facing. God has worked for others and He will deliver you. 1 Peter affirms “knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.”
Resist with confidence that this is only a season. “After you have suffered a little while” This season of pressure will yield to a season of prosperity in ministry and life.
Resist giving up, knowing His strength is coming. Start and continue in your strength knowing you will finish in His strength.
Resist discouragement with worship – To Him belongs dominion for ever and ever amen. He is in control. He is in charge. Your adversary does not have dominion, your enemy is not the one making the rules. Worship God because He is greater than who and what you face.
